Among the hundreds, how do I choose. favorite genre: hard scifi
About Me:
I read and watch. I maintain a Google icalendar that lists sci fi cons of interest to teachers. I am a member of the Yahoo! group Reading for the Future (rff). I believe that science fiction is for us today what the Greek myths were for the ancient cultures: memes for reflecting our culture. I want to see teachers use science fiction to motivate kids to read and to reflect on sociological issues as well as modern science and technology.
And I love the fun of it all!! I am a Trekkie (yeah, I know, but I like being a Trekkie better than a Trekker). I am a Sceptic (paid membership, read the magazine, and all); think James Randi is heroic; and I strongly suspect that there is life on other planets. I want to live in the Liaden Universe or on Deep Space 9--heck, I want to work on Voyager, but I would settle for Enterprise. I admire Honor Harrington and would send Esmay Suiza a wedding gift if I could--can't wait to meet the kids!
Best sci-fi moment
Bladerunner: when she asks Decker if he had taken the test.
THERE ARE LOTS MORE!
Hey, I loved Murder by Moonlight because the story was so great. Neilson's acting was stiff, but as a hard scifi, the movie was distinctive.
Worst sci-fi moment
The Sci Fi Channel started showing too much horror and Hollywood-version science fiction and stopped making movies like Cold Equation and the Babylon 5 movies.
My Superhero
Moon's family of witches that populate her Liaden Universe
I received your message (if you are the right Valeria) I went to Si-fi HQ groups but could not find the one you mentioned. I have only wrote two pure si-fi stories The Rat Wars in three parts and Starship Pegasus in Freefall, I mainly write Mysteries and horror. I have five books and about twenty short stories on www.amazon.com. My web site is http://woodrow-w-walker.tripod.com
